The New Book

Updated: Nov 8, 2025

Dear Students, Friends and Colleagues,

Not since HOW ABELLA FOUND HER VOICE have I felt so strongly about writing another book.

I’m going to approach this one, my fifth, differently. Here is the prologue. As I complete each chapter (anticipated 2-3 weeks each chapter) I will put them out in my blog and newsletter.

What I need from you is your feedback. What you like and everything you dislike, anything you might feel resistance to. If you like what you read and it resonates with you, please pass the newsletter on to others you feel may enjoy it. If you think it sucks so badly you’d never share it with anyone, let me know that too, and why.

Title suggestions are welcome, too.

THANK YOU for assistance or comments you may feel drawn to provide.

PROLOGUE

After my illness, two hospitalizations, and three surgeries last year, several people said they wanted to hear about my journey, from a spiritual perspective. A life-threatening experience changes your perspective, for sure. It took so long to figure out what was going on, and I got so sick I couldn’t eat. I lost over 50 pounds, and I was in so much pain for so many months it’s difficult to even remember now.

Two hospital chaplains met with me different times during my stays. I will call them Charles and Rosalie, or “Rosie.” Towards the end of my second stay at “Hotel Providence” came a poignant moment when I showed Rosie a photo of me and my dear friend, Mary. (I had kept thinking I needed to introduce them to each other.) Mary and I don’t look anything alike, and Rosie could not tell which person in the photo was me – I had changed physically that much. The look of heartbreak and compassion on her face is something I will not forget.

She had asked me a question earlier in my first stay. I wrote the question in my journal with the date September 25, 2024. “Do you wish this had never happened?”

I’m still sitting with that question months later.

I’ve experienced a spiritual opening of sorts over the last few weeks that may have as much to do with timing and what’s going on in the world right now as did my illness and knowing that I might not survive. I’m extremely grateful for these “new” understandings. And I would have preferred to have had them without going through what I did. That’s the best answer I have to Rosie’s question right now.

Wow. I mean…wow. This is an interesting time to be alive on Planet Earth. Personally, in the good ol ’ USA, I’ve never seen anything like this political polarization and division. People say there’s been nothing like it since the Civil War and that seems about right to me.

I’ve not before felt this kind of frenetic energy in the ethers. You?

I’ve not before been this personally concerned about the welfare of our country, the world, and the human species. You? People are marching in protest all over the world, not just in the United States.

Several of my friends post daily social media comments skewering the other political party for all the wrong doings of the world. Some are working with their local political party offices to “fight.”

Others, like me, remain mostly out of the political fray while trying to figure out how to voice our truth in other ways. And we pray and meditate a lot.

I’ve heard, more than once, that the billionaires and oligarchs of the world are hell bent on destroying the planet and they don’t care what happens to anyone else because they’re going to colonize Mars and go live there.

That could happen.

World War III could happen. Nuclear weapons could wipe out most, if not all, of humankind as we know it.

Or, what Neale Donald Walsh wrote in THE NEW REVELATIONS (Atria Books ©2002 by Millennium Legacies, Inc.) might be true. “Everything would change on your planet if you simply stopped telling yourself that you are doing the will of God when you harm each other.”

Amnesty International, an organization I’ve supported financially and in other ways over the years, says “This is a human rights emergency.” Environmental agencies are sending the same message about the health of our planet. Top economists and finance experts predict a 90% chance of recession in 2025.

Doom and gloom are everywhere.

Yet this isn’t a political crisis. Or an economic crisis.

It’s a spiritual crisis.

We have so much separation from our highest Divine self and each other that everything looks and feels like a battle – as if the wars in Ukraine and Gaza and everywhere else in the world people are fighting each other aren’t enough. My husband personally met (I’m friends on Facebook with) a man in Ukraine (a physician) who was taken captive by Russian soldiers, for several weeks, and was forced to “eat” the Ukrainian flag. I don’t think I even want to know exactly what that entailed. I haven’t asked.

What is the solution for a spiritual crisis?

I know of only one, which we’ll explore further in future chapters.

Rejoin the mind of heaven and God and release the egoic judgements, victim mentality and old belief systems that no longer serve humans.

I invite you to join me in looking at the world from a six-sensory perspective. The five senses, of course, are sight, sound, touch, smell and taste. The sixth sense is your connection with your soul, the part of you that lives forever, and your spirit guides, angels, whatever you personally connect with as your higher self.

That is where you’ll receive your deepest connection and guidance. Not through watching the news, posting on social media, or getting involved with politics.

Long term change won’t come from doing the same things we’ve always done since 1776. Things may change for a few months or years as another person enters the White House or a war ends somewhere. But it’s not transformational or lasting.

For lasting change, you need to leave the physical world out of your mental constructs and focus on the level of spirit and energy. Truly examine your beliefs. It can seem challenging at first, but the more you do it, the easier it becomes and the more inner peace you feel despite what is going on in the “outside” world.

First and foremost, you need to know that your sixth sense is founded on awareness. And in order to be aware of your vibes and learn to trust them, you must start with common sense. If you want your awareness to function on high, you must give your body what it needs so that it can be aware. -Sonia Choquette, TRUST YOUR VIBES Permission requested.

You have stitched together in your world a complex interweaving of spiritual, philosophical, political and economic concepts that pretty much govern your collective experience. These concepts arise from certain mental constructions that you have formed on the basis of your false beliefs and those mental constructions – ideas about “how things are” that you have literally built up in your mind – produce, in your outer experience, certain human social conventions…They are often what stop you from doing something as simple as living together in peace and harmony. -Neale Donald Walsch, THE NEW REVELATIONS: A Conversation with God Permission requested.
