When You Have to Admit It…I’ll Never Fit into Those Jeans Again
The day came when I had to, like it or not (I didn’t), embrace the fact…I’m not a size 6 anymore.
Models these days may be size 0, 2 or 4…but I never wanted that. I was thrilled being a size 6.
Like most women, however; especially as teenagers, I spent years thinking I was heavier than I was. It’s sad, the way so many of us think about our bodies. When I look at pictures from my 20’s and 30’s…I rocked a bikini, I assure you. But I didn’t recognize it at the time.
I’ve always exercised and eaten well balanced meals, although I have my pitfalls like anyone else. (Like Ruffles with Dean’s French Onion dip. Segura Viudas Brut Cava. KauKauna Port Wine cheese spread on Triscuits with rye and caraway seeds.) Regardless, I stayed a solid size 6 from college graduation through age 42, when I quit smoking and gained something like 8, 10 pounds.
Now, well into peri-menopause, with hormones doing crazy things to my mid-section, and me not wanting to feel deprived in my diet…it was time for a reckoning.
I’m never going to be a size 6 again.
It’s time to get rid of all that size 6 clothing.
Don’t think this was easy. Those were some of my favorite clothes I felt really good in, got compliments on. Especially those amazing Coldwater Creek floral pants with a cute little zipper at the ankles.
Mourning is required.
But this is the deal. Having anything in your home which no longer serves you – that you don’t find beautiful or useful – stymies the flow of energy in your home and clogs up your life.
Early on in my Success Weavers Circle mastermind group, I heard my partner describing her confusion and inability to prioritize or make effective decisions. I had an image of her surrounded by clutter. I shared my vision with her; Tatiana started decluttering that same week and kept at it. Very quickly, her mind started to clear as her physical space did, and she was much more in flow with her business.
If you could use some help lightening the load in your home and your inner life, one book I highly recommend is Denise Linn’s Soul Coaching http://www.deniselinn.com/Books.htm, a 28-day program you can complete in 10 minutes a day. It’s fabulous. Also, check out Kate Northrup’s (www.katenorthrup.com) Feng Shui for Financial Freedom course. Kate knows her Feng Shui and has been a big help to me through Kate Northrup’s B-Schoolers.
If you’ve been thinking, “Oh, I just might use that one day…” looking at something you haven’t used in over a year…two, three, five… Stop it. You’ll never need or want it.
Donate it so someone else can love it; Goodwill and the Veterans are always looking for donations. Have a garage sale. Put it on Offer Up. Take it to a consignment shop. Put a sign saying “FREE” by the side of the road. You may be surprised what people will take. (I took a free summer squash off a neighbor’s mailbox last week.)
No matter how you rid that energy clog from your home, do it – even if you have to mourn a little in the process.
By the way…should I become a size 6 again in the next year or two…? Trust me, I won’t miss the clothing someone else is enjoying now. I might just enjoy a new pair of ankle pants or skirt, though. Wouldn’t that be fun? “Remember that clutter holds energy in a way that can keep you from moving forward. You may never suspect that those boxes of old photographs, or unfinished projects from years ago, or papers and correspondence from the distant past can be interfering with your ability to create something new. Even if they are not physically in your immediate environment, they are still extensions of yourself and part of your “business”. Letting go of these attachments will free you up for something new.” -https://thepowerpath.com/monthly-forecast/september-2016-monthly-forecast/ If you found this post helpful, please share it with your friends!
