Simply Authentic...Your Soul Voice is Calling. On Seeing a Whale

Writer's picture: Kimberly GenlyKimberly Genly

On Seeing a Whale Friends of mine, who live near the Oregon coast, shared how they saw a pod of whales playing in a cove when they had gone out for dinner…as they walked into the restaurant, while they were eating, and as they left after dinner. I admitted jealousy as I had gone on an Alaskan cruise looking for whales (having been told I would see so many everywhere I did not need to book a whale watching excursion) and saw virtually no whales, other than that one time, while in the shower, I heard, “Laura, come quick! NOW!!” I raced out to the balcony wearing nothing but a towel (which of course fell off) to use binoculars. Then I saw spouting, two backs, and a flash of one very large fin from – I will guess 400, 500 yards away – through the magnifying lenses. I said to my partner that the next time we went to the coast, we simply must go there – to that restaurant. I must have said this more than once, because I heard my friend repeating that you can’t expect to go and find them there. They had been to that same restaurant several times before and never had they seen the pod of whales until that particular day. I said to my friend that at least now we have a place to look. What I say to myself is do not go there and expect to find them. Rather know where to be. Be ready. Be watchful. Be open to receiving. Happy New Year!

Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity. –Possibly Seneca, definitely Oprah. Authentically Yours, Laura
