Simply Authentic...Your Soul Voice is Calling. Narrowing Focus & Creating Your Team

Narrowing Focus & Creating Your Team I can’t say I have ever made a New Year’s Resolution in my life, at least not that I remember. However, I do have a few tools I like to implement on a regular basis, often right around the start of a new year. I’d like to share them with you as they’ve been so helpful for me. This post will be a general overview of these three tools, and I’ll go into more detail about each of these steps in the coming weeks. First, I absolutely believe in writing down what you want to create in your life, nailing down a vision of how a perfect day might look and feel to you. Sometimes we get so caught up in how things are, we forget to imagine how things could be. Our minds are amazingly powerful at pulling in what we focus on. Specifically, I use an exercise called ME NOW, which is on the products & services page of www.laurahandke.com under Free Stuff. I complete this exercise at least every two years. I just did it again January 2 in preparation for a new private wish-weaving circle (master mind group) I put together; we are calling it “Dream Keepers.” Second, I’m a big fan of collage, creating vision boards. My home office/inspiration room is covered with them and I just created a new one for the door earlier this month as well. The process helps satisfy the artist in me, and is so much fun – when I get going I become completely absorbed and lose track of time. In addition, it is simply miraculous to look at collages I created a few years ago and see what I wanted to draw into my life at that time, things/circumstances which are now very much present in my daily life. I recently read a blog post written by a colleague who is a yoga practitioner and teacher and razor-sharp in the smarts department. Diane’s not into the collaging process so much—in fact, said she ‘didn’t give a downward dog about vision boards’, which I found rather clever and humorous. Diane prefers to start the new year focusing on the feelings she wants to experience in the coming year, then finds a yoga pose representing the feeling to go into and hold. I think this is a super fantastic idea. However, I’m not giving up my writing or collaging and would encourage you to do whatever sings to your heart in setting your personal intentions. The third step is creating your team—a master mind group, wish-weaving circle, whatever you want to call it. I’m actually in two now, the Coexist Visionaries meet once a month and Dream Keepers twice. The first such group I helped co-found, back in 1999, completely changed my life. And I am not joking, or exaggerating. My experience with M/6 and what transpired as a result of my participation is what prompted me to write my first book, Six Degrees to Your Dreams. I wrote the book on creating this kind of group, in other words. A word of caution, however: if you are preparing to make some relatively substantial changes to move in the direction your authentic self is pointing you, only share your dreams with people who will support and buoy you with encouragement. As with any kind of personal writing or journaling, your dreams want to be shared only with people who will help you move forward and past perceived obstacles. There is no place for negativity, drama or nay-saying during this process. We tend to create enough of this in our own mind without help from others! That is the benefit of creating a wish-weaving circle, with those of like minds. You have a team to help you anchor your dreams. Please let me know if you have questions or comments and please post them on my blog – I read and treasure every single one! And I am available to help if you want assistance getting your own wish-weaving circle started. Buckle up for the ride – things will start to shift! We were taught that it was selfish to be on our trips, much less to ask for help with them. That’s nonsense. The truth is that the most generous thing you can do for the people around you is generate energy. So don’t be shy about inviting people over to help you out. There will be plenty in it for them. You’re not only going to give them the chance to share in your goal, you’re going to give them inspiration and help with theirs. –Barbara Sher, Wishcraft Authentically Yours, Laura
