He gave himself a deadline of three years to accomplish his goal, which meant dating his check for Thanksgiving, 1995. In the meantime, while the check got wrinkled, ripped and started falling apart in his wallet, he went on auditions and took all the steps he could take to make his dream come true. After all, Carrey says, “You can’t just visualize and go eat a sandwich.” Shortly before Thanksgiving, 1995, Carrey was given a contract for ten million dollars for the movie Dumb and Dumber.
