Simply Authentic...Your Soul Voice is Calling. Celebrate Your Success and Part of the Whole

https://youtu.be/6uZAuecAkYU Celebrate Your Success and Part of the Whole I just got paid for my first acting gig! I’m a professional actor now! Okay, the payment was a two-digit figure…yet I can honestly say that really isn’t the point. I did a happy dance when I came home closing night, check in hand, all the same. What being a professional actor (paid or not) truly means is showing up. On time. At each call. Giving of yourself emotionally in your character, and being part of a team which creates the whole of the show. While I’m not a sports person, I know the same is true on a football field or basketball court – it’s never about just the quarterback or the center, rather each player giving their best and collaborating with the other team members in a united purpose. People pay to come see your play – it’s your job to give them the best performance you can. That said, a magical symbiosis occurs in a cast and crew – under the helm of an imaginative, compassionate and skilled director as we had in this case – working seamlessly together, combined with the energy flow from the audience in the house. When a show really clicks, there’s nothing quite like it. Every performance is different in some way, yet also needs to be consistent for the audience to have a believable and absorbing experience. Just one example from The Best Christmas Pageant Ever: The director created a montage for the “church members coming to the pageant” scene. Everyone had their moment to enter, do their bit on stage, and depart. Timing was critical. From where me and my two “daughters” stood back stage, we couldn’t see when it was time for our entrance. So we worked out a relay method for our cue. When “Mother” walked back stage at the stair tops, she gave the signal to “Beth” on the floor, who nodded to me. I starting counting to five on my fingers, moved to my two “daughters” standing close to the door, we finished the five finger count together…then went through the door on stage. Worked like a charm every time. Yet if any one of us hadn’t been there, paying attention, the perfect timing and magic moment wouldn’t have happened. The theatre is a good analogy for any dream you may have – the part of yourself, phase of your life, you want to create and express in the world next. Show up. Invest in yourself emotionally. Be consistent, imaginative. Collaborate with the players surrounding you, helping you manifest your dreams into reality while you’re doing your part in the creation of theirs.
