September: A Good Time for a Life Review The new year, to me, always begins with the month of September when school is starting and the first crisp blush of autumn is upon us. Mother Earth’s foliage starts changing into her fall colors and the evenings and mornings are cool. School kids move up a grade and our planet rests, the ground starting to sleep. I’m always reminded of homecoming, football games, the smell of a bon-fire. I love this time of year. It’s also a good time to do a life review, and look at what you might want to change in your life. A great way to do that is the ME NOW exercise (a perfect day in the life of your authentic self), available for free on the Products & Services page of my website. This exercise is enormously fun and it’s a fantastic way to identify what you might want to add to your life that isn’t there now, and perhaps some things to remove as well! I assigned this task to the women in my Authentic Expression Wishweavers Circle fall term, and here’s what one of them had to say about it: I loved doing the ME NOW exercise; it was exciting and liberating. The exercise was very powerful for me because I am seeing small things start to happen. It may be that I am more focused on the positive little things but even so I am excited to see what each day brings. –Jennifer S. I’ve identified one desired change for myself! I received an audition notice from Lakewood Theatre for the same play I was in last year. I could not believe it had been a year since I even auditioned for a show! How can that be? I want to be in a show again. Being cast requires auditioning! (Unless you’re like Meryl Streep or Tom Hanks.) Last Saturday evening, George and I had a dinner and theatre date with our friends Lorinda and Richard. We went to Oswego Grill http://www.oswegogrill.com/, my favorite local restaurant, before seeing 1776 the Musical at Lakewood Theatre https://www.lakewood-center.org/. The show runs through October 16 – if you have a chance to see it, get tickets! It’s fabulous. (And a great history lesson as well.) The four of us had a delightful evening together, and over dinner I mentioned to Lorinda how much I want to be in a play again, but don’t seem to hear about the auditions around town until they’re over. The very next morning I saw an audition notice on-line for a small local community theatre! With not one, but two, shows I’m interested in! I’ll have to wait until early November to audition for the first one, but – in the meantime – I’ve made steps to get my hands on the scripts. Knowing what you truly want to create in your life, instead of just letting life happen to you, is – as Jennifer said – exciting and liberating. When you are more focused on what you want, including the positive little things, you’ll be more aware and receptive to receive those nudges and hints in the right direction. Like my upcoming audition. I’ll keep you posted! Have fun with the ME NOW exercise! Let us know what you uncover on the blog.
